A Personalized Calligraphy Activation with Sol de Janeiro at Coachella

With festival season coming up soon, I thought I'd take a moment to recap the calligraphy activation I did with Sol de Janeiro at Coachella 2025. With Lady Gaga as the headliner, the festival being a short drive away, and festival fits featuring color and sparkle, this opportunity felt aligned as hell.

The theme of the activation was personalization, and I had the privilege of being hired to make magic ✨ live on site with some incredible brand and event teams.

I hand lettered calligraphy on colored acrylic boxes for Sol de Janeiro's activation at Coachella weekend (or what Douglas Cosmetics coined as #Dochella weekend) in Palm Springs. Influencers from around the world were invited to experience the brands like never before, with a mistology bar, scent wheel, and personalized acrylic gift boxes containing hand-picked scents and lotions from SDJ.

Guests got to explore the scent bar and personalize what fragrances and body cream they went home with. After choosing what would go into their box, they got to personalize it as well. They were able to choose from a variety of different colored boxes, matching the top and bottoms, or even choosing one color top and a different color bottom if they wanted to create the same sort of layered effect as you could with the SDJ fragrances. 

Once their box was created, I personalized each box with SDJ's “Ignite Your Magic” tagline in a modern calligraphy style, as well as added the guest's name or initials.

It was truly so joyful to see how happy people got when they received something made just for them at this activation. My favorite compliment from people was “I thought that was printed on there!” which indicates to me that they appreciated the professional service and the clean lettering style.
